Last year 84 first and second grade students at The Garrison School learned science, math and more during weekly garden visits. This year kindergarten, third, and fourth grades joined the program, expanding participation to 200 students every week of the school year! Working in both urban and rural communities unites students around the common activity of growing food.  One student when observing basil recorded in her garden journal, “Basil smells like Home Depot at christmastime.” This program was made possible by The Garrison Children’s Education Fund and the Environmental Education Committee.
